Scooter with Brian

Scooter (so named for the valiant effort he put in avoiding attention on his first visit to the vet) is "one of the ten" and one of the first to cross the line of fear and apprehension to geniune delight. His small but growing body encases a huge heart. He lived so long without yet he gladly shares with everyone.

Dinah the horse was a close friend of Scooter's early on. Dinah was often the babysitterfor new pigs who came to adjust to life at the Sanctuary. Many pigs have bonded to Dinah. Once eight siblings lived with her until they could recover from spays and neuters. After they joined the rest of the herd, Scooter, who we fondly referred to as D.P. (for Dinah's Pig) would leave everyone else and jump over the stall fence every night to steep only with Dinah. He did this for over a year.

Brian, the Shetland sheepdog lived tied to a tree for years before coming to us. Today they have found in each other a friend for life. Scooter will seek out Brian the dog and vice versa. It is a very common sight to see Brian licking Scooter on his side and behind his ears. They have been special friends since Scooter came as a youngster with nine other pigs. To Brian, this is the most special pig of all, his friend.
