Honey's journal

I just got home a day ago from Montana with a very damaged Piglet. I received a call from the police in Gillette Wyoming as a man was stopped for a DUI and I had a pig living on the floorboards of his truck!
The young pig is paralyzed from the waist down with open sores all over.
It is as if someone took a 2 x 4 and beat her.
Her pelvis is broke, both legs broke, tail broke, ear damaged.
Horrific injuries this piglet suffered and survived! Her body is very crippled! Her spirit is bright and very sweet! Her heart touches everyone she meets!

We may never know How she was injured.
The man who was stopped for the DUI who had her in his truck living on the floorboards may have tried to help her? Maybe not? What we now do know is that complete x-rays and physical exam revealed the injuries are old And she healed crippled with two broken legs, a compound fracture, which means the bone is out of the skin! No pain meds no help.
She survived unimaginable pain!
Gillette police cared and the shelter staff cared and sought help. AniMeals in Missoula Montana stepped right up to help with her transport! They called her scooter at the shelter.
I wanted her name to reflect her spirit instead of her body. She is one of the sweetest pigs ever and we call her Honey.
From a life of unbearable pain we wish her a life of tremendous joy!
Will you be an angel to Honey with a donation to help fund her recovery? She needs your help!

The sadness Honey lived besides the broken body and living in a truck must also have been water deprivation.
When she was first here she would panic about the water and keep checking and checking the water dishes to make sure she had water even when she wasn't thirsty.
I gave her four full dishes at all times to ease her insecurity. Yesterday I saw her just sitting gazing at her water dish.

I put little three month old potbelly piglet Otis in with Honey for companionship. Because they are close to the same age I knew they would match up. They quickly became the very best of friends and do everything together.

It's a rainy day in the Pacific Northwest today and Honey is deep in the hay bed munching away on the yummy sweet hay as a snack. What you don't see is her best pig friend Otis who is buried in the hay next to her!

Honey is at the vet clinic right now being spayed. We only can spay a large farm pig when they're a small enough size for the anesthesia.
All unspayed females can be moody every three weeks when they cycle and it is extremely common for all unspayed females to develop uterine tumors later in their life.
Spaying the female just gives a long healthy life to every female pig.
We want Honey to have a long healthy life!
