Joey Dickens

As soon as we put small housing huts among the fields and woods Joey Dickens took one as his personal cabin. We wondered where Joey was when we didn't see him at meal times. Joey's 'cabin' was under a tree with a small meadow between it and the woods. There was a pond nearby. Everyday Joey lived alone in the woods, foraging roots and berries for what his huge 900 lb. body needed. For weeks on end Joey Dickens enjoyed the solitude of the woods. He was always eager to greet visitors to his cabin. None of this should seem so remarkable except that Joey Dickens was born inside a pig factory farm. A windowless building on cement with metal bars enclosing thousands of pigs living crowded side by side. Joey Dickens was the offspring of many generations of pigs born in total confinement. What is remarkable is deep inside of his being is the adventure seeking contemplative fellow he is.
