Alice gets a belly-rub

A pig in grass eating carrots with other pigs may not seem newsworthy to you but to Alice the pig it's a very glorious thing! Alice lived in a research lab and never knew about grass or carrots exploding in flavor when you bite them!

Today she is one happy pig!

For her entire life Alice lived inside a lab. Confined and traumatized. On her first day free from medical research Miss Alice enjoys the taste of grass and clover close to her new friend Honey who's in the photograph below.

Honey and Alice are survivors of a horrible past who now live in a bonded friendship. Some days my heart wants to break for all the cruelty that continues in the world for pigs. This world is a better place because a place of peace and love exists for pigs and that place is Pigs Peace Sanctuary

Alice came to us from inside a lab, used as a research pig. She was born to be a lab animal so when she got to Pigs Peace Sanctuary, all life here was a new experience. She had never seen a tree, a bush, a rock, a dog, etc… Everything was new and exciting.

Alice’s favorite fun thing is water! She plays in water, blows bubbles in water, goes in the pond before breakfast just because she can, and she loves it. She drank from a tube in the lab. She never had the experience of vast amounts of water.

Alice’s special sanctuary spot is under the apple trees when the apples drop! She is the first one to snatch a sweet treat.

Alice’s favorite activity is watching the other pigs to figure out what to do, where to sleep, and what to eat. When first here, she did not know what a carrot was and would not bite on it. Now, everything offered is a taste sensation.

Alice’s favorite sanctuary visitors stop to greet her and give her many tummy scratches to help her understand that ALL people are friends and mean her no harm EVER!
