Summer is usually a wonderful time here at the Sanctuary – visitors come weekly, the pigs stay cool by spending time under trees in the forest or by soaking in their ponds, and all of us enjoy a wonderful bounty from the organic gardens.

I’m sad to say that without your help, this summer will be quite different. About a week ago, I was injured while helping A 700 lb. handicapped pig here at the Sanctuary. It is unlikely that I will be back on my feet before Winter. as you know, I’m not just the founder of Pigs Peace. I work with these special animals every day – ensuring they have the best care, the cleanest pens and meadows, and the freshest hay for their beds.

My injuries are quite serious and complicated. I am unable to do the work I love in the months ahead. While we are blessed with many wonderful volunteers, we are estimating needing another $5,000 a month to keep things running smooth – that’s a total of $15,000 needed before Summer officially ends. This is just to care for the pigs themselves – I have not yet seen the medical bills from the hospital where I spent five days hospitalized after the accident.

I am writing to you because you understand the importance of the work we do at Pigs Peace. Please consider a donation to the Sanctuary during this critical time.
